Trinity Christian Academy will host world renowned eye surgeon Dr. Ming Wang as he shares his story and testimony in “From Darkness to Light: The Story Behind the Movie ‘God's Not Dead.'”

“TCA is very excited to welcome Dr. Wang,” said Ramona Nelson, Upper School faculty member and HOSA – Future Health Professionals sponsor. “We think this will be a great opportunity for the Jackson community to come learn the true story behind a movie and hear this incredible doctor's life story, testimony, and music.”

As a teenager, Dr. Ming Wang fought valiantly to escape one of history's darkest eras – China's Cultural Revolution – during which millions of innocent youth were deported to remote areas to face a life sentence of poverty and hard labor. Through his own tenacity and his parents' tireless efforts to provide a chance of freedom for their son, Dr. Wang eventually made his way to America with $50 in his pocket and an American dream in his heart. Against all odds, he would earn a PhD in laser physics and graduate magna cum laude with the highest honors from Harvard Medical School and MIT. He went on to embrace his Christian faith and tackle one of the most important questions of our time – Are faith and science friends or foes? This question led him to his invention of a breakthrough biotechnology to restore sight.

Today, he is a world-class eye surgeon and is the ONLY surgeon in the state of Tennessee who performs 3D laser vision procedures. He founded two 501c(3) non-profit organizations, Wang Foundation for Christian Outreach to China, and Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration, which to date has helped patients from over 40 states in the U.S. and 55 countries, with all sight restoration surgeries performed free-of-charge.

“From Darkness to Sight” with Dr. Ming Wang will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5th at the Hamilton Performing Arts Center on the University of Memphis – Lambuth Campus, located at 705 Lambuth Blvd., Jackson, TN. Trinity Christian Academy is hosting this event free of charge and it is open to everyone in the community.
